General Airport Tips

STL is a medium-sized airport, easy to navigate with short walking distances compared to major hubs.

The airport has two terminals that are not connected airside, so always check your terminal in advance.

Arrive at least 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international departures.

Security is usually fast, but peak times (early morning and late afternoon) can increase waiting times.

Terminal 1 is larger, with more airlines, services, and food options.

Terminal 2 is mainly used by Southwest Airlines and is generally quicker to navigate.

Allow at least 30–45 minutes if you need to transfer between terminals.

Concourse C in Terminal 1 usually has better food options and tends to be less crowded.

The MetroLink is the cheapest and most efficient way to reach downtown.

Buy MetroLink tickets before boarding, as inspections are common.

Uber and Lyft are often cheaper and faster than taxis.

Allow an extra 10–15 minutes if using shuttle buses or economy parking.

Driving is easy thanks to direct access via Interstate 70, with relatively low traffic.

Choose parking based on your terminal to avoid unnecessary transfers.

Terminal garages are best for short stays and maximum convenience.

Lot D and off-site parking offer the best value for long stays.

Booking parking online in advance can reduce costs significantly.

Terminal 1 offers the widest range of restaurants and bars.

Local food spots and craft beer bars provide a better experience than standard chains.

Charging stations and Wi-Fi are available throughout both terminals.

The rental car center is off-airport, so allow time for the shuttle transfer.

Shuttle buses run every 5–10 minutes from both terminals.

Book your rental car in advance to secure better prices.

Consider a midsize car or SUV if traveling with luggage or family.

Check if your credit card includes rental insurance to avoid extra charges.

Family restrooms and baby-changing facilities are available in both terminals.

Request assistance for reduced mobility at least 48 hours before your flight.

The airport layout is simple, making it manageable for families traveling with children.

There is no luggage storage service at STL, so plan accordingly.

Follow signage carefully when driving, as each terminal has separate access roads.
